When you are trying to build muscle bulk, there is one rule of thumb you want to be sure and follow. Lift using compound exercises.
See, you want to get the most "bang for your buck" so to speak from your exercises. Compound exercises give you that kind of work.
Compound exercises are those that work multiple muscle groups such as squats, pullups, dead lifts, tricep dip, etc, instead of just isolating one. For example squats literally work your entire lower torso from abs, to glutes, hammies, quads and calves. Pull ups work your abs, lats, traps, and both of your entire arms.
This means you get all of those muscles firing and it cuts your workout time in half this is essential to build muscle bulk. You want to limit your time in the gym because at a certain point during your workout, the body produces a hormone that actually "eats away" (for lack of a better description), the muscle you are trying to build.
You should be able to work your entire body by performing just 7 compound exercises. Working out using these exercises will get you on your way to build muscle bulk.
