When you are trying to put on my pounds and want to build muscle bulk, one of the first things you'll hear is to take in as much protein as you can and don't do any cardio. In fact, some macho muscle guys would have you consume so much protein that if you cut yourself that's what you would bleed instead of blood. And the word cardio would be forbidden from the muscle man's dictionary. This doesn't help you gain weight not fat.
So, I'm going to ask you to put down that protein drink you have in the one hand and the protein bar you have in the other, then go for a run on the treadmill while pondering this.
YOU DON'T NEED IT!!! The protein that is and
You do need throw cardio exercise into your workout regimen.
Now there's a scientifically proven reason for these statements and I want to help you build muscle bulk - gain weight not fat. So before getting too worked up, let me explain. Then you can choose whether that drink is what you need or maybe all your body is asking for is a nice glass of cold water. Plus you can decide whether to increase the speed on that treadmill or just get off.
With protein, there is such a thing as too much even if your goal is to build muscle bulk. The most your body will ever need as a non-competitive body builder is 1.5 kg per pound of body weight. That's all! When you consume more than that one of two things happen. The protein either passes through your body as waste, (which also means drinking excess protein is a waste cause it goes right through your system without ever being used),
or...and this is a biggy,
it gets stored as FAT!!!
Most likely the consequence of too much protein is a little of both. There is where your fat weight is gained.
And as far as cardio is concerned, that exercise helps burn fat NOT muscle. See the concern is that protein is used as a fuel source when performing cardio exercise. As a result, that protein is taken away from the muscle causing you to lose bulk. The truth is that carbs and fat are the primary fuel source for energy when exercising, not protein. You would have to perform marathon type training for any substantial amount of protein to be involved in the energy creation process, and that's not the type of cardio you will be performing. The little bit of protein that is used for energy is what's currently available in your system cruising around in your veins, not that which is stored in your muscle.
So there you have it. If you want to gain weight not fat, watch how much protein you consume but more importantly add 300 to 400 calories of complex carbs to your daily caloric intake. And do some cardio activity, 20 minutes, 3 times per week at a moderate intensity. That will help you to build muscle bulk and gain weight not fat.

Compound Exercises Are Best to Build Muscle Bulk
When you are trying to build muscle bulk, there is one rule of thumb you want to be sure and follow. Lift using compound exercises.
See, you want to get the most "bang for your buck" so to speak from your exercises. Compound exercises give you that kind of work.
Compound exercises are those that work multiple muscle groups such as squats, pullups, dead lifts, tricep dip, etc, instead of just isolating one. For example squats literally work your entire lower torso from abs, to glutes, hammies, quads and calves. Pull ups work your abs, lats, traps, and both of your entire arms.
This means you get all of those muscles firing and it cuts your workout time in half this is essential to build muscle bulk. You want to limit your time in the gym because at a certain point during your workout, the body produces a hormone that actually "eats away" (for lack of a better description), the muscle you are trying to build.
You should be able to work your entire body by performing just 7 compound exercises. Working out using these exercises will get you on your way to build muscle bulk.

Build Muscle Bulk...The Right Way
When I was looking to put on some muscle and trim some fat, I thought that I knew exactly what I needed to do to accomplish that goal. Boy, was I off the mark on that one. (Forget any marksmanship award for me.) There really is a right way and wrong way to build muscle bulk
Follow the right way and you'll be on cloud nine, and no...you won't be able to help flexing in the mirror checking out your new body.
Follow the wrong way and you'll be treading the path of constant sorrow because you won't getting any results from all your hard work. Or worse... you could really end up hurting yourself by injuring your back, tearing muscles, breaking bones, etc.
There is a lot of advice being given that says do this or that out there. The problem is...the people who give the advice either got their muscles from cheating (using steroids), or were born with a rare genetic gift that allowed them to easily build muscle bulk. That makes it hard to put that much faith in the information that they are dishing out.
To get the results you want be sure and follow the right way to build muscle bulk. If you are interested in learning more information about building muscle bulk the right way, please check out build muscle bulk.
